In March 2011, with the clutch failing in my Fiat Bravo HGT, I decided to drop the engine and gearbox out of the car. Owing to where I worked and a recent favour I had earned, the decision was taken to upgrade the engine. Initially, this was to be some light porting work to the cylinder head and some re-profiled cams....

What follows is a record of how quickly that idea went out the window and what actually ended up happening!
