So I was settling down for an evening alone (Lace is away on placement at the mo) and there was bugger all on telly so I decided to watch a film. Which one though? There are so many films I like and I can never remember them all. The most I can remember is about 10 and those are usually ones I've either seen recently or am not in the mood to watch. Then I had a thought, I really should catalogue the films I like. Then I had another thought about doing it online. Then another about integrating it into my blog and so on. So here I sit at 5:30am and I've just written my first wordpress plugin! :D It took me a few hours but then I did have to get re-aquatinted with PHP after being tainted by my recent and rather 'full-on' exposure to ASP. Plus wordpress is bloody confusing to integrate stuff into (well, at first). Anyway, it basically just wraps the IMDB page URL for the film round the film name (I.e. a hyperlink) and spurts the films out into the sidebar under "My Fav Films" and if I'm logged in, I get the option to add a film there and then (no faffing about in the admin pages) :) It may not sound like much to most of you hardcore coders out there but I'm quite proud of my effort. I can do coding me! :D |

...get a job in IT of course! LOL
There's an advert on telly at the moment for a company called NITLC. You've basically got three mates in a pub, one of them being a rather awkward, large ginger bloke. Two half decent birds walk in and order some drinks. He dives in, in all his awkwardness and at the last second and offers to pay. One of his mates then turns to the other remarking "he's doing well for himself". The other replies "yeah, it's since he got that job in IT".
So there we have it, the Gospel of pulling according to NITLC: become an IT geek and you'll be a babe magnet! Although, if you're reading this blog, then you probably already have a job in IT and, like me, are already a babe magnet ;) |

Well, it's now been a month since I sent my Xbox away. Is it back yet? Is it hell! Why? Well, from my stumbling's round t'internet, this is my theory: I sent it to the on June 5th (not the 2nd as previously thought), they received it the next day BUT due to the fact they are receiving between 1500 and 2500 consoles per day (that's 3 DHL/UPS lorries!) at the Havant repair centre (that's in Portsmouth btw) alone, my console got stuck in limbo...along with countless others. So, why do they say they received it on June 16th? Sometime between the 6th and the 16th, my 360 went on a little holiday...to Prague! Why has it gone to Prague? Well, not entirely sure. It's either a) to clear the backlog at Havant or b)because they are moving the repair centre to Prague or c) both. Personally I'm thinking 'c' due to the fact that MS are proving to be a bunch of fuckwits and seem to be following other fuckwit-esque companies by doing things on the cheap, moving abroad and exploiting the natives. ...but what about the guy who was supposed to be helping me I hear you ask? Yes, what about him indeed. He palmed me off on some X360 stuttering support muppet who basically told me to stick my thumb up my arse and wait and now won't return any of my calls. Infact, as soon as I mention "Xbox" to any of his colleagues, their tone dramatically changes and I get the "let me just take your details and I'll get him to call you back". Like fuck will they! Grrr! So, thanks for that Richard King of Microsoft UK (08700 844 558). Thanks muchly  FFS, I just want my Xbox back! |
